ABOUT Khatta mag (green moong in yoghurt curry) RECIPE

This is a typical Gujarati dish made with whole green moong and curd.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Moong- 1 cup
  2. Curd- 1 cup
  3. Besan- 1 tbsp
  4. Turmeric- 1/2 tsp
  5. Ginger, garlic and green chilli paste- 1 tsp
  6. Curry leaves- 8 to 10
  7. Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
  8. Asafoetida- 1 pinch
  9. Oil- 1 tbsp
  10. Salt
  11. Coriander for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak green moong for 2 hours.
  2. Put in pressure cooker and take 3 whistles .
  3. Now take curd in a bowl, add besan, salt, turmeric and blend with a cup of water.
  4. Take oil in a pan. When oil heats add mustard seeds, ginger, chilli and garlic paste, curry leaves and asafoetida.
  5. Now pour the curd mix in this pan and stir properly.
  6. Let the curry boil and then add the boiled moong.
  7. Simmer on slow gas for 5 minutes.
  8. Garnish with coriander and serve with rice and pulkas.
