ABOUT Posto Bara or Poppy Seed Fitter RECIPE

Posto Bora or poppy seed fritter is like a soul food for almost all Bengali.It tastes just heavenly with plain white rice and daal. Quite a simple recipe with very fewer ingredients.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Poppy seed 1cup
  2. Salt to taste
  3. Green chilli chopped 3
  4. Onion finely chopped 1
  5. Coriander leaves chopped 2tsp
  6. Mustard Oil 4-5tsp
  7. Ginger chopped 1/2tsp
  8. Rice Flour 2tbsp

Instructions

  1. Soak poppy seed for an hour. Wash and strain. Make a coarse paste with very little water and 1 or 2 green chili.
  2. In a bowl mix poppy seed paste, chopped onion, chopped green chili, salt, ginger, and flour only if needed.
  3. Now heat 3-4 tsp mustard oil in a flat bottom pan or tawa and shape the mixture in 4 or 5 bora or fritter. Fry it over lowest heat for sometimes. Flip to the other side when one side is done. Fry well until both sides are golden brown in color.
  4. Serve with plain white rice and daal.
