ABOUT Dahi Idli RECIPE

Dahi vade is famous dish from U.P. in place of vade I tried dahi idli and the taste was amazing .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. split black gram (urad dal) 1 small cup
  2. flatten rice(poha) 1 small cup
  3. par boiled rice 2 small cups
  4. Thick curd 2 cups
  5. sugar 1 teaspoon
  6. Coriander leaves handful
  7. ginger a very small piece
  8. green chilli 2 num
  9. Salt to taste
  10. imli chutney (readymade) 4 tablespoon
  11. tomato ketchup 3-4 tablespoon
  12. sev 1 small cup
  13. cumin powder as required
  14. Red chilli powder as required

Instructions

  1. Soak urad dal and poha in sufficient water for 4 hours
  2. Soak boiled rice in a separate vessel in sufficient water for 4 hours
  3. Drain water and grind poha and urad dal to fine paste with little water
  4. Grind (not fine ) boiled rice with very little water
  5. Mix both ground pastes
  6. Add little salt and keep covered for 5-6 hours untouched for fermentation. It rises and is light and fluffy
  7. Now idli batter is ready to be steamed
  8. Meanwhile prepare green chutney by grinding coriander leaves, ginger, chilli and salt with a little water to make a fine paste
  9. Whisk curd nicely after adding salt and sugar
  10. Pour idli batter into each greased moulds of idli stand
  11. Steam for 6-8 minute
  12. Remove idlis after 5 minutes
  13. Place few idlies in a plate
  14. Pour curd, green chutney, ketchup and imli chutney one by one
  15. Sprinkle salt, cumin powder and red chilli powder
  16. Garnish with sev, coriander leaves and serve.
