ABOUT Cornmeal dhokla RECIPE

Dhokala is a famous gujarati recipe very healthy and and liked by all, age group people. I have used corn meal and gram flour both.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Corn meal-1cup
  2. Gram flour -1/4cup
  3. Curd - 1/2 cup
  4. Oil - 2 tbsp
  5. Water -1 cup or more to make dosa batter like cosistency
  6. Ginger green chilli paste -.1tbsp
  7. Sugar - 1 tsp
  8. Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tsp
  9. Baking Powder - 1tsp
  10. Baking Soda - 1/2 tsp
  11. Coriande leaves chopped -2 tbsp
  12. Juice of lemon - 1
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Asafoetida - A Pinch
  15. For the seasoning - Small mustard - 1tbsp
  16. Green chillies slit into 2 - 2 numbers
  17. white sesame seeds - 1 tbsp
  18. Sugar -1 tbsp
  19. Water - 1cup
  20. Lemon juice -1/2 tsp
  21. Coconut grated -2tbsp
  22. Curry leaves - 6- 8 numbers

Instructions

  1. These are the ingredients required to make corn meal dhokla which are shown in below video.
  2. Take a bowl add in corn meal, gram flour, sugar, salt, ginger green chilli paste
  3. Now addin curd, turmeric powder and asafoetida .
  4. Addin baking powder and mix.
  5. Pour water and oil and mix nicely
  6. Add little more water and chopped corriander leaves then Mix well. Batter should have dosa batter like consistency.
  7. Take a steamer add in 1 litre water and switch on flame let the water boil.
  8. Take a dhokla plate and grease with oil.
  9. When water in the steamer start boiling at that time, take dhokla batter now add in baking soda in lemon juice and quickly mix this in dhokla batter.
  10. Dont waste time quickly droping dhokla batter in dhokla plate.
  11. Cover the steamer with lid and let it cook for 15 minutes.
  12. Now open the lid after 15minutes and check in by inserting knife, if dhokala is ready knife will come out clean. Now corn meal dhokla is completely cooked.
  13. Switch off flame and take out the dhokla tray.
  14. Slide in knife around the walls of dhokla plate it will make demoulding of dhokla easy.
  15. Now demould the dhokla by keeping one plate on dhokla plate and flip it down
  16. Dhokla is demoulded
  17. Transfer dhokla in a plate
  18. Cut the dhokla .
  19. Now prepare the seasoning for dhokla
  20. Heat oil in a small kadai add in all the seasoning ingredients like small mustard, slit green chilli, sesame seeds, curry leaves and sugar mix in little water.
  21. Add in asafoetida and lemon juice cook for 2 minutes when water starts boiling and sugar gets dissolves completely, switch off flame.
  22. Pour this seasoning to the corn meal dhokla. let it rest for 10 minutes.
  23. Now yummy cornmeal and gram flour dhokla is ready to serve.
  24. Drizzle some honey on dhokla and enjoy with coriander chutney.

Do very well explained. I make Dhokala of rice flour and dasl. This is totally new and healthy. Will love to try.
