ABOUT Kela Muluk (Banana Semolina Jaggery Balls) RECIPE

Amazingly delicious sweet balls with banana and semolina combo that makes it even more unique, not only in texture but also the taste. It has a soft inside and a little crispier outside. Makes for an excellent snack for everyone. Over ripe bananas now need not be discarded, instead introduce them in a new way with these sweet balls.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Over ripe bananas 2-3
  2. Semolina or suji 1 1/2 cups
  3. Coconut powder 1/2 cup
  4. Dry fruits powdered 1/2 cup (any of your choice)
  5. Grated jaggery 1/2 cup
  6. Nutmeg powder 1/4 tsp
  7. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Mash the bananas well.
  2. Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and use your hands to mix well.
  3. It is a soft dough and looks like this
  4. Let it rest for 20 mins. Keep it covered.
  5. Heat oil on medium flame and start frying these in batches few at a time. Do not over crowd the kadai.
  6. Do not stir much. Let them cook on one side and then slowly turn to the other side. Keep rotating the balls slowly with a slotted spoon. Always fry these on low to medium flame only. Otherwise the inside will be uncooked.
  7. Serve them warm with tea or coffee.
  8. These can be stored in airtight containers after they cool down and relish them upto a week.
