ABOUT Ladies Finger Pachadi RECIPE

This is ladies finger pachadi that is usually served with sambar and rasam. There are many versions of this recipe. This version includes ladies finger, tomato, raw mangoes and it gets flavour from small onions, red chilly powder, and asafoetida powder.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 4 ladies finger
  2. 10 small onions
  3. 1 tomato
  4. 2 tbsp sliced mangoes
  5. 2 small slit green chillies
  6. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  7. 1/4 tsp red chilly powder
  8. 1/4 tsp asafoetida powder
  9. few curry leaves
  10. 2 tbsp Oil
  11. Salt
  12. For coconut paste
  13. 3 tbsp grated coconut
  14. 2 small onions
  15. 1/4 tsp Jeera
  16. For tempering
  17. 1/4 tsp mustard
  18. 1/4 tsp urid dal
  19. few curry leaves
  20. 1 tsp oil

Instructions

  1. Wash the ladies finger and wipe it with a towel. Cut the tip and the crown. Slit them and chop it finely. Peel the onions and chop it finely. Slit the green chillies and chop the tomatoes.
  2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a kadai and add the chopped small onions, green chillies and ladies finger. Keep in medium flame and saute it until crisp.
  3. When you see a light brown colour on the ladies finger add the tomatoes and mango slices.
  4. Saute it for a minute and add 1/2 cup of water. Cook in medium flame.
  5. When the ladies fingers are cooked well add the turmeric powder.
  6. Next add the chilly powder, asafoetida powder and required salt.
  7. Then add the ground coconut paste to it.
  8. Mix them well and when you see bubbles on the top of the pachadi switch off the flame.
  9. Heat a tsp of oil in a pan and add mustard and urid dal. When it splutters add the curry leaves and drop it to the hot pachadi. Yummy pachadi is ready.
