ABOUT Fruit Custard Pie RECIPE

Fruit Custard pie is made up of crust which is usually made with pastry sheets. It is filled with sweet or savoury fillings. Pie crust is made up of baked pastry dough.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. For Pie Crust -
  2. 1 cup all purpose flour
  3. 2 tbsp chilled butter
  4. 1 cup chilled milk or to knead the dough
  5. 1 tbsp powdered sugar or honey
  6. 1 pinch of salt if butter is salted then skip it
  7. 1 pinch Cinnamon powder
  8. For Custard -
  9. 250 ml milk
  10. 2 tbsp custard powder I used mango flavour fruit custard powder
  11. 1/4 cup sugar
  12. 1 tsp vanilla essence
  13. For Garnishing -
  14. Fresh fruits
  15. 2 kiwis chopped
  16. 1 orange segment
  17. 1 apple peeled and sliced
  18. 1/4 cup washed blueberry
  19. 4-5 fresh strawberries chopped

Instructions

  1. In a big bowl add all purpose flour
  2. Add butter, powdered sugar and add cinnamon powder
  3. Add milk and make dough
  4. Now cover it with a with cling film and keep it in fridge for half an hour
  5. To make custard -
  6. Boil milk in a pan
  7. Add vanilla essence
  8. Add custard powder
  9. Mix well so that there are no lumps.
  10. Add sugar
  11. Now keep stirring till it becomes thick. Switch off the flame and let it cool.
  12. Strain it and keep custard in fridge
  13. Now take the dough out from the fridge. Roll it with help of rolling pin. It's very soft to handle so carefully roll it with help of a little all purpose flour
  14. Now set it over pie mould and adjust the edges by folding it. Prick the base of pie with a fork so it cannot fluff up while baking as shown in the picture
  15. Now bake it in a preheated oven at 180 degrees C for 12-15 minutes
  16. When the crust becomes brown in color it is done. Take it out from oven and let it cool.
  17. Fill it with chilled mango flavoured custard and garnish it with fresh fruits
