ABOUT Jowar Ke Puya (Sweet Puri) RECIPE

Jowar is a source of nutrients such as calcium, fiber and protein. It also encourages weight loss. So basically, it's a very healthy grain. It is usually found in the Northern India specifically during winter.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup Jowar Atta (flour)
  2. 1/2 cup gur (Jaggery)
  3. 1/4 teaspoon elaichi powder (Cardamom)
  4. 1/2 teaspoon seasame seeds (til)
  5. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  6. Water for dough making- As required

Instructions

  1. Heat the water and add gur, then stir till it melts. Keep it aside for cooling
  2. Combine all the materials in a bowl and make a soft dough by using gur water.
  3. Make 4 small balls and flattened them with palms and fingers (do not use rolling pin)
  4. Heat sufficient oil in a heavy bottom pan. Deep-fry until dark brown.
  5. Drain it on an absorbent paper, and serve hot with mango pickle.
