ABOUT Pakwan RECIPE

Crispy fried flat bread. A sindhi speciality.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup maida
  2. 1 cup whole wheat atta
  3. 1/2 teaspoon jeera
  4. 1/2 teaspoon Ajwain
  5. 1?2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  6. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  7. 2 teaspoons of ghee
  8. Water to bind the dough
  9. Oil to deep fry the pakwan

Instructions

  1. Mix together atta and maida
  2. Add jeera, ajwain , salt , black pepper , ghee and make a soft dough with water.
  3. Knead well. Make small portions and keep.
  4. Heat oil to deep fry the pakwan.
  5. Roll out each portion into puri sized discs. Prick each with a fork.
  6. Deep fry till crisp and golden.
  7. Drain on absorbent kitchen towel and serve hot with spicy channa dal. Traditionally eaten for breakfast this may also be served as a snack.
