ABOUT Tawa Pulao (With Cabbage) RECIPE

Tawa pulao as you all know, the popular street food of Mumbai, just made a slight twist to this lip smacking dish with the addition of Cabbage, a leafy vegetable often disliked by kids.Try it out friends and you will know what I am saying. They will not be able to make out it's presence in this pulao.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Freshly cooked rice 4 cups.
  2. Onions finely chopped 2
  3. Garlic mince a tbsp
  4. Green Peas 1 cup
  5. Cabbage finely shredded 2 cups
  6. Tomatoes about 4 finely chopped
  7. Chilli flakes 1 tbsp
  8. Green chillies chopped 2
  9. Pav bhaji masala 2 tbsp
  10. Coriander for garnishing a fistful
  11. Ghee 2 Tbsp

Instructions

  1. You can use the leftover rice for this. I used freshly prepared one today.
  2. Heat ghee and add the onions, green chillies and the garlic mince.
  3. Saute them for about 2 minutes.
  4. Add the tomatoes now and the chilli flakes along with the pav bhaji masala.
  5. Mix well and leave it on covered for about 5 minutes.
  6. After the tomatoes get cooked, add the peas and the cabbage.
  7. Cover and cook for further 3 to 4 mins on medium flame so that the water if any will get absorbed. Keep stirring in between.
  8. After 4 mins, add rice to it. Give all a good mix and garnish with coriander before you serve and a dash of lemon juice if desired.
  9. Makes for an excellent tiffin box idea too.
  10. If you are using leftover rice, then cover with a lid and allow to get heated for further 5 to 7 mins before you serve.
