ABOUT Fara Manchurian RECIPE

Fara is an traditional dish of India especially of U.P and Bihar. It is made in a Chinese style. The taste will be loved by every person.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice flour 1 cup
  2. Chana dal 1/2 cup
  3. Garlic 10 cloves
  4. Green chillies 4-6 pieces
  5. Black peppercorns 4
  6. Cloves 2
  7. Cardamom 1
  8. Asafoetida a pinch
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Desi ghee 1 tbsp
  11. Cornflour 1/2 tbsp
  12. Black pepper powder a pinch
  13. Tomato Ketchup 1 tbsp
  14. Chilli sauce 1 tsp
  15. Soya sauce 1 tsp
  16. Sugar 2 pinches
  17. Ginger chopped 2 tsp
  18. Oil for deep frying
  19. Oil 2 tsp

Instructions

  1. For the fara preparation, soak the chana dal separately in water for 5 hours.
  2. Grind the chana daal in a mixer by adding 5 cloves of garlic, chillies, black pepper, cloves and salt with a little water.
  3. Boil 1/2 cup water in a kadhai and add ghee 1 tsp. While it's boiling, add in the rice flour and mix it well.
  4. Then turn off the flame and make a dough similar to the chapati dough.
  5. Take 1/2 liter of water to boil in a big container.
  6. Take a plate which has pores, grease it well with a few drops of oil. Make small rotis from the rice dough.
  7. Keep placing the chana daal paster in one half of the rice roti and fold it with the other half. Then place the daal filled roti in a greased plate.
  8. Put the plate on a boiling water container. Then cover it with another plate and cook it for 15 minutes.
  9. Turn off the flame, then Immediately cut the fara into small pieces and marinate it in a small quantity of cornflour. Now deep fry and drain it on a paper. Keep it aside.
  10. Dissolve the cornflour in 1/2 cup water.
  11. Heat oil in a pan on a high flame. Add in the remaining chopped garlic, then add in the ginger, salt, black pepper powder and fry it for a few seconds.
  12. Add in the sugar, cornflour water, tomato ketchup, chilli sauce and soya sauce. Simmer it for a few seconds.
  13. Now add in the fried fara and mix it well. Cover and cook it for a few minutes.
  14. Turn off the flame and serve it hot.
