ABOUT Sweet potato gulab jamun RECIPE

Made with sweet potatoes, sometimes refered to as ranga aloor pitha in Bengali.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 500 grams sweet potatoes, boiled , peeled and mashed
  2. 5 tablespoons of all purpose flour
  3. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  4. 2 black cardamom pods
  5. For the Syrup
  6. 1 cup sugar
  7. 1 Cup water
  8. 2 teaspoons rose water
  9. Oil to deep fry the gulab jamuns

Instructions

  1. In a pan put the water and the sugar and let it boil. The syrup should be one string consistency.
  2. Put the oil in a kadai and start heating on a very low flame.
  3. Mix all other ingredients really well and make small balls from it.
  4. On medium heat fry the gulab jamuns until they are golden brown.
  5. Remove the gulab jamuns on to absorbent paper.
  6. When the sugar syrup is ready drop the fried gulab jamuns into it.
  7. Keep aside covered for sometime.
  8. Serve hot.
