ABOUT Makhana Aloo Crisp RECIPE

Makhana is a very unique ingredient used during fasting season of Navratri.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 4 medium potatoes, boiled, mashed
  2. 1 cup makhane/lotus seeds/fox nuts, roasted, ground
  3. 1 green chillies, finely chopped
  4. 2 tablespoons roasted peanuts, crushed
  5. a small bunch of coriander leaves, finely chopped
  6. 3 tbsp ragi flour
  7. 1-2 tbsp crushed paneer
  8. 1 teaspoon chaat masala powder
  9. 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  10. 1/4 teaspoon Red chili powder
  11. black salt to taste
  12. oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Roast the makhana in a pan with little bit of ghee until crunchy and coarsely powder it.
  2. Mash the potatoes and add all the remaining ingredients in a bowl. Check the salt and spices and adjust to suit your taste.
  3. Shape the aloo makhane mixture into small balls and pan fry them in very little oil until golden brown on both sides.
  4. Serve your Makhana Aloo crisp (Spiced Lotus Seed balls) with Dhaniya Pudina No Onion No Garlic Chutney to relish your tea time snack.
