ABOUT Tokri chaat with a chinese twist RECIPE

Tokri chaat also know as katori chaat is a famous North Indian street food. Tangy, Spicy, Chatpata and mixed salad is usually served on a potato tokri. As Chinese dishes are also very famous street food in India. I have tried to give this dish a Chinese twist.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Tokri; Chinese noodles 1 packet
  2. Salt to taste
  3. 1 litre water for boiling noodles
  4. Oil for frying and coating
  5. 2 tablespoon maida
  6. Chaat; 100 grams paneer
  7. 1 small Carrots
  8. 4 baby corns
  9. 1/4 cup green peas
  10. 1 tomato, deseeded chopped
  11. 4-5 crushed garlic
  12. 1 Capsicum cubed
  13. salt as per taste
  14. 1 teaspoon black pepper powder
  15. 1 tablespoon red chilli sauce
  16. 1 Tablespoon tomato sauce
  17. 1 teaspoon soya sauce
  18. 1 cube Maggi masala nugget
  19. 1 tablespoon oil

Instructions

  1. In boiling water add the noodles and let cook for 8-10 minutes.
  2. Strain water from the noodles. Add a teaspoon of oil and toss the noodles.
  3. Sprinkle flour on top of noodles and toss. All the noodles should coat in maida. As this step is important for crunchy tokri.
  4. Heat oil in a large pan to handle tokri with oit getting burns
  5. I placed the noodles in a steel cup, so it looks like a tokri. And dipped in hot oil.
  6. As soon as the noodles starts to cook, the cup sinks to bottom and the tokri floats on surface of oil.
  7. I made many such cups for my guests for the 'Holi' Party
  8. Het oil in a pan, add garlic and saute
  9. Add vegetables and by one and saute
  10. Add in the slow cooking vegetables first.
  11. Add tomatoes maggi masala, salt, pepper powder and saute
  12. Add chopped paneer and mix everything slowly.
  13. In a bowl I have mixed, soya sauce, tomato sauce and red chilli sauce
  14. Add the sauce mix to the filling and mix again
  15. Filling is ready
  16. Place 1 tablespoon of filling over the tokri and arrange on a platter.
  17. Serve to guests and make their tummy happy
