ABOUT Moong Dal Dhokla RECIPE

A variation of dhokla made using green moong dal.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Overnight soaked moong dal (mung bean) - 2 Cups
  2. Ginger - 1 inch piece
  3. Chili - As per taste
  4. Water - 3/4 Cup
  5. Salt - As per taste
  6. Lemon - Half
  7. Eno salt - 1 tsp
  8. Oil - 2 1/2 tbsp (1/2 for greasing and 2 tbsp for tempering)
  9. Mustard - 1 tsp
  10. Sesame seeds - 1 tsp
  11. Curry leaves - 4 - 5
  12. Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
  13. Chopped coriander leaves - 1/4 cup

Instructions

  1. Soak approx 1 cup moong daal (mung bean) overnight, it yeilds more than 2 cups soaked moong daal (mung bean).
  2. 2. Grind moong daal (mung bean) along with ginger and chili with 1/2 cup water.
  3. 3. Transfer it to a bowl, check consistency it should be smooth flowing. Add water if needed,
  4. 4. Add salt and lemon, mix it.
  5. 5. Prepare a tin and grease it.
  6. 6. Pour the dhokla batter and steam it for 12-15 mins.
  7. 7. Let it cool for 15-20 mins then tranfer on a plate upside down.
  8. 8. Spread grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves.
  9. Prepare tempering - 9. Heat oil, put mustard and let it splutter.
  10. 10. Add sesame seeds and curry leaves, switch off the heat.
  11. 11. Spread the tempering over prepared dhokla 12. Cut in pieces and Enjoy!
