Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1/2 kg pumpkin
  2. 1/2 bowl ghee of clarified butter
  3. 1/2 bowl sugar or as per taste
  4. 1/2 bowl water
  5. Crushed seeds of 5 cardmoms
  6. 1 tbsp melon seeds
  7. 1 tbsp chopped almonds or nuts as per choice
  8. 1 tbsp Raisins
  9. 6 to 7 cashews

Instructions

  1. Peel wash and cut petha into small pieces.
  2. Boil in pressure cooker along with water for 2 to 3 whistles.
  3. Turn off the flame, let the steam release on it's own.
  4. Open the lid, mash petha with masher or with back side of the ladle. If there is some water, let it cook till the water evaporates.
  5. Heat ghee in a kadhai or heavy bottom, pan roast chopped nuts with raisins. Put mashed petha in it.
  6. Cook for few mins, then add sugar and cardamom, mix well, cook till halwa leaves the sides of the kadhai or water evaporates from it.
  7. Place in a bowl, serve with melon seeds or cashews.
