Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Dried split gill mushroom- 1/2 cup
  2. Dried shrimp-100 gms
  3. Maroi Napaakpi (Hooker Chives) -1 cup (Cut into inch length)
  4. Onion - 1/2 cup (chopped)
  5. Ngari (fermented fish) - 7 pieces (steamed)
  6. Green chillies - 5-6 ( slit lengthwise)
  7. Ginger-1 tbsp
  8. Turmeric (optional) - 1/2 tsp
  9. Besan - 2 tbsp
  10. Turmeric leaves - 4 nos.
  11. Banana leaves - To wrap
  12. Salt - to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak the dried mushroom in room temperature water for 15-30 mins or until it becomes soft.
  2. Wash them several times to remove any dirt present in mushroom and pressure cooked with water upto 4 whistles.
  3. Remove from flame.
  4. When it cools down, squeeze out the excess water from the mushroom and keep it aside.
  5. Take a bowl and mashed together the steamed fremented fish, green chillies, mushroom,napaakpi,red chilli,turmeric powder, ginger, besan and add little water to stick together.
  6. Transfer the mashed ingredients onto the prepared turmeric leaves and try to shape it in square or round and wrap nicely.
  7. Take few banana leaves and wrap it again as a second layer.
  8. Now pan roast it on low flame turning sides till the leaves turn into brownish colour. (It might take 40-45 mins)
  9. Remove from fire.Let it cool.Unwrap it.
  10. Cut it into any shape you like.I cut it into traingle shape.
  11. Transfer it onto a plate and serve it with some salad or have it with nice cup of tea.
