Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Raw rice -1 cup
  2. moong dal -half cup
  3. Coconut -half cup
  4. salt as needed
  5. ghee -3 tablespoon
  6. Water - 3 Cups

Instructions

  1. wash the raw rice well and drain the water.
  2. Spread the raw rice on a towel and dry it completely.
  3. Once the rice is dry, grind it into a fine powder in a mixie jar.
  4. Grate the coconut and set aside.
  5. Cook moong dal in a cooker for 3 whistles. Moong dal should not be mushy. It should be grainy.
  6. Take a pan add ghee , needed salt and 3 cups of water. Once it is boiled add rice powder n mix well..
  7. When it is 3/4th cooked , add moong dal and coconut.
  8. Mix it well and switch off the stove.
  9. At this stage water obsorbs completely on its own.
  10. Greece some oil in a idly plate and take a scoop of rice, moong dal mixture using hand and place it on a idly plate carefully without breaking it. It will be slightly hot at this stage.
  11. Steam it for 20 more minutes in a idly cooker.
  12. Serve hot with urad dal chutney.
