ABOUT Mango Modak RECIPE

Modak is a mouth-watering dessert recipe that is generally prepared on auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup mango pulp
  2. 2 cup khoya
  3. 1/2 cup sugar
  4. 3 strand saffron
  5. 2 teaspoon ghee
  6. 5 piece green cardamom

Instructions

  1. Crumble khoya in a bowl. Remove the shell of cardamom and grind to a fine powder. Over a medium flame, place a pan. Once the pan is hot enough, turn the flame to low and add khoya. Saute until the khoya melts completely.
  2. Put in sugar and stir until sugar gets completely mixed in khoya. Pour mango in the mixture and stir for 5-7 minutes so that the mixture thickens.
  3. Mix in saffron and cardamom powder. Turn the flame to low and stir until the mixture starts accumulating in the center.
  4. Switch off the flame and transfer the mixture into a plate. Keep aside allowing it to cool down. Once, the mixture reaches room temperature, prepare small equal sized balls. Apply ghee to the modak moulds.
  5. Firmly remove the first batch of modaks from mould and align on a plate.
  6. Similarly, prepare other modaks. You can refrigerate for some time to serve chilled or serve immediately.
