ABOUT Polish Pierogi RECIPE

Pierogi - low fat, delicious ,easy to make boiled dumplings stuffed with potato.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Refine flour - 1cup
  2. Salt -1/2tsp
  3. Baking powder -1tsp
  4. Oil - 2 tbsp
  5. Potato - 1 large .peeled ,boiled
  6. Butter - 2tbsp
  7. Onion - 2
  8. Black /white paper - 1tsp

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl ,add maida , salt , baking powder oil. Now add water gradually and knead a soft smooth dough. Cover it ,keep aside for 15 mins.
  2. Now heat a pan with 1 tbsp butter ,add chopped onion , fry until light brown. Then add boiled smash potato , .mix it well .season with salt and pepper. Stir for 2-3 minutes, turn off gas, let it cool.
  3. Now roll the whole dough like a big paratha. Cut a round shape with sharp edge glass, pour 1 tsp potato mixture into the center of the of each round. Moisten the edges with water. Fold over the filling and press together, seal it with fork.
  4. Heat a saucepan with water ,add salt into it. Drop Pierogies into boiling water and cook for 3-5 mins or until pierogi float to the top.
  5. Take out pierogi from saucepan with slotted spoon.
  6. Place pierogis on the oil grease plate .
  7. Now heat a pan with 2tsp butter ,add sliced or chopped onion and fry it until well browned. Take out from pan, keep aside.
  8. Again add 1tbsp butter into the pan ,add pierogi ,saute it for 1-2 mins or until light Brown spot appear.
  9. Place pierogis on a serving plate . Spread brown onion over them.
  10. Polish pierogi is ready to serve, it tastes best when hot /warm.
