ABOUT Eggless Goan Baath Cake(Coconut cake) RECIPE

This is a traditional style Goan cake made from mainly coconut.This is an eggless version of the Baath cake.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Grated coconut/Dessicated coconut 1 & 1/2 cup
  2. Semolina 1/2 cup
  3. Condensed milk 3/4 cup
  4. Milk 1 cup
  5. Ghee 3 tbsp
  6. Rose water 1 tbsp
  7. Baking powder 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Take grated coconut and pulse or grind in mixer.
  2. Add semolina,condensed milk,milk,rose water to the coconut and mix well.If you take fresh coconut you may need less milk.
  3. Check for sweetness,if needed add sugar.
  4. Cover the container and refrigerate overnight or for 7-8 hours.
  5. Remove from fridge and let it come to room temperature.
  6. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees for 10 minutes.
  7. Add 3 tbsp ghee to the batter and mix.
  8. Now add the baking powder and mix well.
  9. Pour this batter in a greased mould and keep to bake at 180 degrees C for 35 minutes.
  10. Check if the cake is ready by inserting toothpick.If needed bake more.You should get a nice golden colour when the cake is done.
  11. Cut into pieces and serve this traditional Baath cake with tea, coffee or milk.
