ABOUT Layered coconut burfi RECIPE

Traditional Indian sweet made with coconut and condensed milk. An easy dessert to celebrate any occasion! U can make single white layered burfi with this recipe but the pink layer makes the burfi more interesting and fun

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 3 cups fresh grated coconut/desiccated coconut
  2. 400gm condensed milk
  3. 1/2 tsp cardmom powder
  4. 2-3tsp clarified butter /ghee
  5. Few drops of pink food colour (or any colour of ur choice )

Instructions

  1. Place a large heavy bottomed pan over low heat. Add coconut & condensed milk, stirring continuously for 2-3mins or until the mixture gets semi solid consistency.
  2. Add cardmom pd & ghee and cook again, stirring continuously, for 2-3mins or until mixture starts to leave the sides of the pan. Remove from heat
  3. Divide the mixture into 2 equal parts, and add a few drops of pink liquid food colour to one half of the mixture, mix well to get dark pink colour. Set aside
  4. Grease and line a slice pan or a small plastic container with parchment paper. Make sure the paper is overhanging at the sides.
  5. Add white coconut mixture into the container. Use a spatula to spread the mixture in one single layer. Add the pink mixture on the top of the white layer. Use the spatula to spread the pink mixture in a single layer. Smooth the top
  6. Place the container in the fridge for an hour to set. Cut in desired shapes
  7. Sprinkle with more coconut if u like
