ABOUT Kadalai Paruppu (Bengal gram) Bonda RECIPE

Crispy bonda made by soaking and grinding Bengal gram,with added flavour of onion, mint and fennel seeds.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Kadalai paruupu 1 cup.
  2. Raw rice 2 teaspoon
  3. Onion finely chopped 1
  4. Each of chopped mint and coriander leaves 1 tablespoon
  5. Green chilli 2
  6. Fennel seeds 1 teaspoon
  7. Asafoetida 1 /4 teaspoon
  8. Salt to taste.
  9. Cooking soda 1/4 teaspoon
  10. Oil to fry.

Instructions

  1. Soak rice plus dal for 1 hour.
  2. Drain and put it in a mixer jar.
  3. Add salt, asafaetida,soda and green chilli.
  4. Grind to a coarse paste.
  5. Transfer to a bowl.
  6. Add onion,mint and coriander leaves.
  7. Mix well.
  8. Place Kadai with oil on medium flame.
  9. When hot ,take small portion of the batter make few balls and slide into the oil.
  10. Fry them golden brown .
  11. Remove serve hot with chutney,or a side dish for curry and rice.
