ABOUT SARVA PINDI RECIPE

This is a savoury rice pancake, a traditional dish from Telangana (Andhra Pradesh) It is usually served as an evening snack or as a breakfast.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Rice flour ...... 1 cup
  2. Onion .... 1 small (finely diced)
  3. Chana dal ........... 2 tbsps (soaked)
  4. Green chillies ... 1-2 (finely chopped)
  5. Coriander leaves .. 2 tbsps
  6. Curry leaves ... few (chopped)
  7. Sesame seeds ..... 1 tbsp
  8. Peanuts ... 1 tbsp
  9. Salt .............. to taste
  10. Oil ......... 6 tbsps

Instructions

  1. Soak chana dal . Dry roast the sesame seeds and peanuts.
  2. Mix all the ingredients (except oil) to the rice flour.
  3. Knead it adding water to make a soft dough. You should be able to pat it easily on a pan.
  4. Grease the pan lightly and take half the dough. Pat it on the pan evenly with wet hands.
  5. Make few holes in the pancake.
  6. Spoon some oil on the pancake and roast it evenly on both sides keeping the flame high first and then medium.
  7. Serve it with some chutney or pickle.
