ABOUT Curd Dosa RECIPE

Including Curd in meals is very important, for those who don't know; Yogurt or curd is a great probiotic (an ingredient that contains live bacteria). These good and beneficial bacteria are known to improve gut activity, soothe inflamed digestive systems and treat an upset stomach. Curd dosa is a simple and easy recipe to prepare with only basic 4 ingredients needed. It is a good option to feed kids curd when they do not like to have it as is. The Dosas come out tangy and soft, apt for lunch boxes. Today I made this for my kids lunch box and for breakfast.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup rice
  2. 2 cups thick part of curd, divided
  3. 1/2 cup liquidy part of curd
  4. 1/4 cup Poha or flattened rice
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Oil for frying dosas

Instructions

  1. Wash normal 1 cup rice.
  2. Add 1 cup thick part of curd
  3. Also add half a cup of liquidy part of the curd
  4. Mix and keep covered for soaking for 3 hours.
  5. After 3 hours add poha and mix and leave for 10 more minutes. I had ragi poha so I added that.
  6. Grind this mixture to a smooth batter. No need to add water it anything.
  7. Add 1 more cup of thick curd. Mix well and Leave it covered to ferment for 7-8 hours. I have prepared this in evening and left it over night to ferment.
  8. Add salt just before starting to prepare the dosas. I.e. after it is fermented. You will not see any fluff. Only you can smell the fermented curd here.
  9. Heat a dosa tawa. Sprinkle drops of oil. And rub a sliced onion. This will help the dosas to come out easily (specially if you are not using a non stick tawa)
  10. Pour 1/2 cup batter on the tawa and spread lightly with a spoon.
  11. Just add a little pressure and spread the batter. Sprinkle teaspoons of oil.
  12. Cover and let it cook for half a minute.
  13. This is cooked only on one side.
  14. Once the dosa is cooked it will be easy to remove it. Use a dosa spatula for the Same.
  15. I served with tomato onion chutney.
