Nutritious Rawa Appe is very easy to prepare with all the ingredients readily available at home.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For Appe batter
  2. 1 bowl rawa
  3. 1 bowl slightly sour curd
  4. 1 /2 bowl finely chopped vegetables (onion,carrot,green capsicum)
  5. 1/4 bowl boiled green peas
  6. 2 spoons finely chopped coriander leaves
  7. 1 green chilly finely chopped
  8. Salt to taste
  9. 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  10. 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  11. 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  12. Oil
  13. For curd dip
  14. 1 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
  15. 1/2 cup dahi
  16. 2 numbers finely chopped green chilly
  17. 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds powder
  18. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix curd and rawa in a big bowl. Add water as required and make a batter which is neither thin nor too thick. Add salt . Rest it for 10 minutes.
  2. Now the batter becomes fluffy. Add some more water if needed to maintain the pouring consistency of the batter.
  3. Now add all the vegetables, coriander leaves,chilly and boiled peas. Mix well.
  4. In a wok, heat 1 tbsp oil. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Once they start to sizzle, add it to the batter.
  5. Add baking soda to the batter and mix gently in one direction.
  6. Grease Appe pan with little oil. Once hot fill each cavity with sufficient quantity of batter.
  7. Cover the pan with lid. Cook on low to medium flame for 8 minutes.
  8. After 8 minutes, flip the Appe and again cook for 6 minutes.
  9. Now remove the Appe from pan. Serve hot with curd dip.
  10. Curd dip
  11. In a blender mix washed coriander leaves(without stem), curd, green chilly,cumin powder and salt. Blend until smooth.
  12. Curd dip is ready to serve with hot Appe.
