Delicious Lahori Chicken curry , best served with roti or naan

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 500g boneless chicken
  2. 2 onions finely chopped
  3. 2 big tomatoes finely chopped
  4. 2 tbsp yoghurt
  5. 4 green chillies finely chopped
  6. 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  7. 1/4 tsp turmeric
  8. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  9. 1 tsp kashmiri chili powder
  10. 1 tbsp coriander powder
  11. 1 TSP garam masala
  12. 1/2 tsp fennel powder (optional)
  13. 4-5 tbsp vegetable oil
  14. 2 small bay leaf
  15. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  16. 4 green cardamom
  17. 3 black cardamom
  18. 1 tbsp cream
  19. 4 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  20. Salt to taste
  21. 1 cup chicken stock or water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil, add bay leaf, cardamom and cumin seeds. Once cumin splutters, add onions with little salt. Saute until golden brown
  2. Add ginger garlic paste and green chillies. Saute until raw aroma goes away. Add spice powders , salt and tomatoes. Saute until tomatoes are mushy
  3. Add chicken and mix well. Add water or broth with yoghurt. Bring to boil. Lower the heat. Cover and cook until chicken is cooked
  4. Add garam masala powder with cream and mix well. Instead of cream, you can substitute it with yoghurt. Add corriander leaves and mix well. Serve hot with roti or naan
