ABOUT Grilled Tofu Kebabs RECIPE

Grilled Tofu Kebabs can be served during parties, or as an evening snack . These Kebabs are healthy and the aromatic spices used in the preparation will tickle your tongue. I preferred grilling as it consumes very less amount of oil.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Potato, Peeled and Boiled – 1
  2. Carrot, Peeled and Boiled – 1
  3. Grated Tofu – 1 cup
  4. Bengal Gram dal, Soaked – 2 tablespoon
  5. Flattened Rice, powdered – 2 tablespoon
  6. Red chilly powder – 2 teaspoon
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Oil – 3 teaspoon/greasing
  9. Ginger – a small piece
  10. Curry leaves , chopped – 1 teaspoon
  11. Onion , finely chopped – 1/2 cup
  12. Cloves – 2
  13. Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
  14. Peanut , Boiled – 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Boil the soaked Bengal gram dal and peanuts separately until they turn tender. Keep aside.
  2. Assemble the ingredients.
  3. Make a coarse powder of the flattened rice and arrange the rest of the ingredients.
  4. Keep the spices ready.
  5. In a dry mixie jar, grind the boiled Bengal gram dal, boiled peanuts,boiled veggies into a coarse paste.
  6. Add the spices and grind for a second. Add 2 tablespoons of water (if needed) while grinding.
  7. Add grated tofu and salt to it.
  8. Transfer it into a bowl. Add finely chopped onions,curry leaves,flattened rice powder and red chilly powder to the mixture. mix it well and note that the mixture should be firm.
  9. The coarse and firm mixture is ready.
  10. Preheat the grill for 10 minutes.
  11. In the meanwhile, place the wooden skewers/chopsticks in water for 15 minutes.This prevents the mixture in sticking to the skewers.
  12. Grease and take some mixture in your palm. Make a long roll of it and insert the greased wooden skewers /chopsticks. Spread he mixture until it is held firmly to the skewers.
  13. Apply oil over the kebab rolls.
  14. Roll into kebabs by spreading the mixture and place the kebab rolls on the oil greased grill grate. Cook for 25 to 30 minutes over 250 degree C by turning frequently or until the tofu alongwith the veggies is cooked well inside.
  15. When the outer layer turns golden ,crispy and from inside it is cooked well,turn off the grill.
  16. Serve hot the crispy and tantalizing grilled tofu kebabs.
