ABOUT Punjabi Dal RECIPE

This is a party special dal, which can be served along with some pooris, parathas, stuffed pooris and rice. It is a spicy and delicious dal that can be made in a giffy.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chana dal (boiled) - 1 cup
  2. Tomato puree - 1/2 cup
  3. Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp
  4. Garlic paste - 1 tsp
  5. Ginger julienn - 2 tsp
  6. Green chillies (chopped) - 1 tsp
  7. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  8. Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  9. Garam Masala powder - 1/2 tsp
  10. Salt
  11. Coriander leaves (handful)

Instructions

  1. IN 1 TBSP OIL / GHEE, ADD 1 TSP CUMIN SEEDS, 2 TSP GINGER & 1 TSP GREEN CHILLIES
  2. ADD 1/2 CUP TOMATO PUREE & 1 TSP GARLIC PASTE
  3. MIX IN 1 TSP TURMERIC, 1 TSP CORIANDER & 1/2 TSP GARAM MASALA
  4. ADD SALT TO TASTE
  5. ADD A HANDFUL OF FRESH CORIANDER & SAUTE TILL THE MASALA LEAVES THE SIDES
  6. ADD 1 CUP BOILED CHANA DAL ALONG WITH 1 CUP WATER
  7. SIMMER & COOK FOR 5 MINS, TAKE OFF HEAT & SERVE HOT
