ABOUT Chettinad Style Aloo RECIPE

Traditional South Indian chettinad potato recipe with loads of curry leaves. An awesome aroma and flavour.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 300 gram boiled small potatoes
  2. 1/4 cup mastard oil
  3. 6 curry leaves
  4. 2 teaspoon black urad dal
  5. Salt to taste
  6. 2 unhole chilli
  7. 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  8. 1 teaspoon turmeric
  9. 1 teaspoon mastard seeds
  10. 1 tsp garlic
  11. 1 chopped onion
  12. 1 teaspoon ginger

Instructions

  1. HEAT 1/4 CUP OIL, ADD 1 TSP MUSTARD SEEDS, 2 TSP SPLIT URAD DAL, 2 DRY RED CHILLIES
  2. ADD 1 TSP CHOPPED GARLIC, 1 TSP GRATED GINGER, SAUTE
  3. ADD 1 CHOPPED ONION, SAUTE UNTIL TRANSLUCENT
  4. ADD 10-12 CURRY LEAVES, 1 TSP TURMERIC POWDER
  5. ADD 1 TSP RED CHILLI POWDER, SALT TO TASTE, SAUTE FOR A FEW SECONDS
  6. ADD 300 GMS BOILED BABY POTATOES, SAUTE FOR 5-10 MINS ON LOW HEAT
  7. THE POTATOES ARE DONE, TAKE OFF HEAT
  8. SERVE HOT WITH POORIS / PARANTHAS / ROTIS / DAL-RICE
