Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. FOR CREPES
  2. 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  3. 1 egg
  4. 3/4 tsp salt
  5. 2 1 /4 cups Water
  6. For stuffing
  7. 1/3 cup broken cashews
  8. 1/3 cup Raisins
  9. 3 tbsp poppy seeds
  10. 3 tbsp sugar
  11. For Binding
  12. 6 eggs
  13. 1.5 tsp cardamom powder
  14. 2/3 cup sugar
  15. 1/3 cup ghee

Instructions

  1. To prepare crepes, add flour, salt in a bowl and mix together. Next add egg and water, mix to a uniform mixture without any lumps. The consistency should be of dosa batter.
  2. Heat a tava and spread the batter like dosa with a laddle. Cook both sides. It takes 25 secs for each side to get cooked. It is not necessary to cook till brown spots appear.
  3. Make pathris with the remaining batter. This will make 15 pathris .
  4. The size of pathris should fit into casserole, so spread the batter according to casserole size.
  5. In a bowl add eggs, sugar and cardamom powder mentioned under binding section. Whisk it till all ingredients blend together. Mentioned cardamom powder quantity is to override eggs' smell.
  6. Take a heavy bottom casserole and heat it. Melt 3 tbsp ghee. Reduce to very low flame .
  7. Place a pathri and to top add a 1/4 cup of egg mixture and spread evenly on the pathri..
  8. Next place second pathri and sprinkle 1 tsp of poppy seeds and 1 tsp of sugar. place a pathri above to it.
  9. Add egg mixture, spread it evenly and sprinkle 1 tbsp of cashew nuts, 1 tsp ghee and 1 tsp of sugar. Place another pathri onto the top.
  10. Again add egg mixture, spread it evenly now add raisins and 1 tsp of sugar. Place a pathri to the top.
  11. Repeat the above procedure in sequence adding ghee on alternative layers. On to the top layer pour the remaining egg mixture and ghee.
  12. Now close the casserole with a tight lid.
  13. Let it cook for 40 minutes on very low flame. You may place the casserole on direct flame or tava. The bottom of chatti patri may turn brown but will taste good.
  14. After cooked, remove from heat and let it cool down.
  15. Close the casserole with a plate and turn upside down. Next Flip over the chatti pathri so that the top layer faces up and brown layer down. Cut into slices and serve.
