Delicious Malabar Fried Prawns from Kerala

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 500g Prawns
  2. 2.5 tbsp+ 1 tsp coconut oil
  3. 1/4 tsp turmeric
  4. 1 tbsp rice flour
  5. Salt to taste
  6. 2sprig curry leaves
  7. 1 tsp lemon juice
  8. To grind
  9. 4-6 shallots
  10. 3-4 dry red chillies
  11. 1 tsp grated ginger
  12. 1 tsp minced garlic
  13. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  14. 1/2 tsp black peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Grind all ingredients mentioned under grind section to paste. Coat prawns with ground paste, salt, turmeric and lemon juice. Allow to rest for 30 minutes
  2. Now coat prawns with rice flour
  3. Heat 2.5 tbsp oil in a pan. Add curry leaves and saute until they turn crispy
  4. Add prawns and saute well. Cook on low to medium heat,Allow the water to evaporate by stirring occasionally. Drizzle 1 tsp coconut oil
  5. Fry on low heat until prawns turn crispy. Serve hot with steamed rice
