ABOUT Samvat Porridge in Sugarcane syrup RECIPE

Samvat is usually made and eaten during the Navratras, It's a sort of porridge made in sugarcane syrup with dry fruits. Samvat or barnyard millet on its own has no taste therefore it can be made with both salted and sweet flavors.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Samvat / Barnyard Millet - 1 cup
  2. Milk - 1/2 cup
  3. Dry fruits - 1/2 cup
  4. Sugarcane syrup - 2 glasses
  5. Cardamom powder 1/2 tbsp
  6. Milkmaid - 4 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Boil the Samvat in two cups of water.
  2. Now add sugarcane syrup in it
  3. Let it boil on low flame.
  4. Add dry fruits to it and keep stirring so that no lumps are formed.
  5. Add milk and milkmaid to it
  6. Add cardamom powder and keep stirring
  7. When it thickens, turn off the flame
  8. Let it cool and then freeze it for 2 hours
  9. Serve chilled and garnish with dry fruits
