It is a typical bong dish and prepared without any onion or garlic.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 500 gms of yellow chana or matar soaked overnight.
  2. Ginger and green chilli paste - 2 tsp
  3. Dry roasted cumin powder - 1 tsp
  4. A pinch of Hing or Asafoetida.
  5. Chunks of coconut - 2 tbsp
  6. White oil to cook
  7. 1 teaspoon of sugar
  8. Salt
  9. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  10. Bay leaf - 1

Instructions

  1. Boil the yellow matar till it's soft with lil salt and haldi.
  2. Take a wok and heat some oil and add a pinch of hing to it. Then add whole white jeera and wait until it's brown.
  3. Then add ginger and green chilli paste and saute for 2 mins.
  4. Add then put the coconut cut into small pieces and fry along with the Masala.
  5. Then add the boiled matar and add salt to taste.
  6. Put some slit green chilli and 1 tablespoon of bhaja Masala or dry roasted cumin and bay leaf.
  7. As per preference sugar can be added.
  8. Garnish with coconut pieces.
