ABOUT Goja RECIPE

Goja a sweet delicacy from Bengal , those who suffered from home sickness this is a must try recipe which is good for the weeping soul . Mainly most of the sweets are made out of chenna but these Goja is prepared with flour which is an all time available item in kitchen .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 250 gms -Flour
  2. 1 tsp Baking Powder
  3. 4 Tbsps Yogurt
  4. 3 Tbsps Milkmaid
  5. 4 tbsp boiled milk
  6. Sugar -1 cup
  7. pinch of salt
  8. 3 Tbsps Ghee or Butter
  9. Refined Oil + Ghee – For deep frying
  10. Green Cardamom Powder-half tbsp
  11. Lemon-1

Instructions

  1. Kned the flour with baking powder and salt. Now add 3 tbsp of ghee and Mix very well.
  2. Now add green cardamom powder, sugar, yogurt, condensed milk and milk in the flour.
  3. Kned the flour well till it becomes soft .
  4. Now cover the dough with a kitchen towel and let the dough rest for 1 hour.
  5. After 1 hour cut the dough in small pieces and give a square like shape .
  6. Heat oil and ghee in a kadai.
  7. Slowly slide the pieces in it. Fry them in very low heat till they become light brown.
  8. Keep it aside for 15 mins
  9. For sugar syrup •Put one cup sugar in the pan and half cup water and cook in a low flame till it becomes sticky .
  10. Sprinkle some cardamom powder and slice of lemon it brings the aroma of the syrup.
  11. Pour the Goja into the syrup and rest it for 20 mins
  12. take it out and serve it or refrigerate for 15 mins to set the sweet.
