ABOUT Rataalu Ka Halwa....(Sweet Potato Halwa) RECIPE

A gorgeous looking halwa that literally melts in your mouth. Loaded with nuts and ghee, it is the easiest to make. I made it taste even more delish by topping it with whipped cream. This added a little bit of extra charm to it. As these are sweet, the addition of sugar also is reduced to a large extent making it healthy and perfect for everyone.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Sweet potatoes 1/2 kg
  2. Sugar 2 tbsp
  3. Cardamom powder 1 tsp
  4. Pure ghee 2 tbsp
  5. Almonds 1/4th cup
  6. Cashewnuts 1/4th cup
  7. Milk 1 cup
  8. Whipped cream 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Wash and clean the sweet potatoes well.
  2. Pressure with enough water for 5-6 whistles.
  3. Peel away the skin and mash well.
  4. In a deep cooking pan, heat ghee and add the nuts.
  5. Fry for a minute and then add the mashed sweet potatoes along with the sugar and milk.
  6. Stir in cardamom powder too.
  7. Mix well and simmer on medium high heat until all the milk is soaked up.
  8. The halwa looks shiny and glossy with ghee leaving the sides of the pan.
  9. Keep stirring in between to avoid it from getting burnt.
  10. Serve it warm topped with few more nuts.
  11. Or serve it chilled if desired.
