ABOUT Doodh-Kola-Bhaath(Milk-Banana-Rice) RECIPE

Growing up in a Bengali household, it’s impossible not to have tasted or prepared this easy-peasy yummy lunch. It’s a common bachelor’s recipe or fondly prepared by students living in hostel/alone. With very little cooking, this is a appetising treat for kids too and very helpful when you are feeling lazy to cook!

Ingredients Serving: 1

  1. 1 cup of plain rice
  2. 1 ripe banana
  3. 1 cup of milk/as needed
  4. water needed to cook the rice
  5. 2 Tb jaggery/sugar to accompany

Instructions

  1. soak the rice for 20-30 minutes prior to cooking
  2. cook the rice to perfection by pressure cooking or traditional boiling it in a saucepan
  3. keep a cup of plain milk ready at room temperature
  4. serve the cooked rice at room temperature accompanied with milk and bananas
  5. you may choose to have it with jaggery or sugar(optional)
