ABOUT Beetroot and spinach murukku RECIPE

Murukku is a crispy snack which is made in different ways. This is a quick and easy healthy murukku recipe which comes out nice and crunchy and tastes amazing. A simple tricoloured spiral savory snack prepared from beetroot and spinach puree mixed with the gram flour, rice flour and semolina. A healthy snack loved by kids and adults, is a perfect evening munching snack with a cup of masala tea. Beetroot and spinach murukku is one such variety with loads of spinach and beetroot. Which makes it healthy and tasty too.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 1 cup Semolina
  2. 1 cup oats flour
  3. 1 cup Rice flour
  4. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  5. ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  6. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  7. 1 tsp Salt
  8. 60 gm Butter
  9. 2 cup oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Collect all ingredients.
  2. Mix all the flours in a bowl with salt, red chilli powder, cumin seeds mix well.
  3. Now divided into three equal portions.
  4. Add 20 GM butter in each portion and blend well with finger tips.
  5. In first portion add turmeric powder, water and knead to a dough.
  6. In second portion add beetroot puree and knead to a dough.
  7. In third portion add spinach puree and knead to a dough.
  8. Prepared dough.
  9. Grease a murukku mould with star disc attachment.
  10. Now make cylindrical rolls from every portion.
  11. Fill one by one every portion in murukku mould.
  12. Now make the murukku and keep them on a greased sheet.
  13. Heat the oil in a wok and fry them on medium heat turning the side until crisp.
  14. Remove them on an absorbent paper.
  15. Allow them to cool before putting them in an airtight container.
  16. Enjoy them with tea or coffee.
