ABOUT Sooji Laddus... RECIPE

Lovely laddus that are a bit powdery and delicious goodies to have as a dessert after lunch or dinner. This version is without condensed milk and takes about 15-20 minutes in all. Enjoy these laddus at tea-time or serve them to kids with a big hot glass of milk. These are healthy too because of semolina and ghee apart from coconut. Happy Roasting !!!!!!!!!!!

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Semolina or sooji 1 1/2 cups
  2. Ghee 3-4 tbsp
  3. Sugar 1/2 cup
  4. Coconut dry or freshly grated 1/2 cup
  5. Milk 1/4-1/2 cup
  6. Cardamom powder 1/2 tsp
  7. Cashewnuts 15-18

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a pan.
  2. Roast semolina until a fragrant aroma emanates in the kitchen.
  3. Add sugar and coconut now.
  4. Roast it again for a minute or two.
  5. Now add cardamom powder and milk slowly little at a time.
  6. Keep stirring well and mixing until ghee starts leaving the sides of the pan.
  7. Milk should be used accordingly. It depends upon the quality of the semolina.
  8. Shape into laddus when the mixture is still warm.
  9. Press a cashew on top.
  10. Store them in airtight containers in the refrigerator and relish upto 15 days.
  11. Serve them with a glass of warm milk.
