ABOUT Rice Chum Chum with Gulab Jamun stuffing RECIPE

Chum Chum, a popular Bengali sweet traditionally made either with Chena/cottage cheese or Semolina/Rava. Cooked rice is a an innovative way to make this beauty and it does taste awesome! Rice is the obvious/secret ingredient here

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 150 gm plain rice
  2. 120 gm sugar
  3. 1 Tb ghee
  4. 2 Tb all purpose flour
  5. 1 tb cornflour
  6. 2 Cups Water
  7. 6 mini gulab jamuns

Instructions

  1. Boil/cook rice till done. Take care not to overcook
  2. Blend the rice without any water until a smooth paste is obtained
  3. Grease a plate with ghee and place the rice paste on it
  4. Add cornflour and all purpose flour to it and knead to a smooth and stiff dough
  5. Cut the mini gulab jamuns into halves and keep ready
  6. Dissolve the sugar in water on high heat
  7. Make elongated shapes Chum chums by scoping handful of the mix
  8. Place 1 or 2 halves of mini jamuns in the center by making a depression in the Chum chums
  9. Add the Chum chums in the sugar water and let simmer on Low heat for 15 minutes
  10. By then they should be firmer and doubled in size
  11. Let cool and then serve
