ABOUT Tomato Thokku / Chutney RECIPE

This is the first recipe i tried at home for side dish for chapathi. It was a hit. My mom frequently ask me to prepare this for guest. She lauds me that i am the best at making chapathi and tomato chutney. Its a big credit. Yes my family prefers this combo more.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. oil
  2. Mustard 1/2 tsp
  3. Split Urad dal 1/2 tsp
  4. Hing
  5. Green chilli 1
  6. curry leaves
  7. Tomato 3
  8. Salt
  9. Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Heat Kadai. Add Oil. Add Mustard. When it cracks, add split Urad dal,hing and 1 green chilli
  2. Add 3 chopped tomatoes. Saute
  3. Add salt and curry leaves. Saute
  4. Close with a lid and cook for 5 minutes on low flame.
  5. Once tomatoes are cooked. You can mash them with spatula. Add 1/2 TSP red chilli powder. Cook for 2-3 minutes till oil separates from the mixture

It is a great condiment that can be served with any meal or snack.
