ABOUT Bittermelon Chips RECIPE

Bitter melon karela chips is a popular South Indian snack recipe. Bitter gourd is one of the best vegetable that helps to improve diabetic and toxemia conditions.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Bittermelon 2
  2. Salt To taste
  3. Vinegar 2 tbsp
  4. Rice flour 1 tbsp
  5. Corn flour 1 tsp
  6. Chickpea flour 1 tbsp
  7. Red chilly powder 1/2 tsp
  8. Garam masala 1/4 tsp
  9. Amchur powder 1/4 tsp
  10. Ginger garlic paste 1/2 tsp
  11. Oil for frying
  12. Curry leaves 1 sprig

Instructions

  1. Slice bittermelon lengthwise. Add bittermelon with seeds in a bowl. Add salt, vinegar, water to bittermelon , mix well and keep it aside for 30 mins.
  2. Place bittermelon on absorbent paper to drain excess water
  3. In a bowl, add rice flour, corn flour, chickpea flour, red chilly powder, garam masala, amchur powder, ginger garlic paste, salt, water and mix well to form smooth thick batter.
  4. Add curry leaves, bittermelon and mix well so that bittermelon is well coated with the batter. Deep fry in hot oil until it is crispy and golden brown
  5. Drain excess oil over paper towel
  6. Serve chips with sauce or rice
