Amla/ gooseberry is a power-packed vegetable gifted to us by nature. This achari amla sabzi is consumed as side dish in meal.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Amla /gooseberry 250 gms.
  2. Fitkary /alum powder 1 pinch
  3. Mustard oil 2 tbsp
  4. Mustard seeds 2 tsp
  5. Onion seeds /kalonji 1 tsp
  6. Coriander seeds 2 tsp
  7. Fennel seeds 2 tsp
  8. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  9. Cloves 3-4
  10. Red chili powder 1 +1/2 tsp
  11. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  12. Salt 1 tsp
  13. Jaggery powder 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Prick gooseberry with a fork. Soak pricked gooseberry in water with alum powder overnight.
  2. Pulse all spices, salt, chili powder and jaggery to fine powder
  3. Wash amla in fresh water, boil it for 3-4 minutes uncovered.
  4. Drain and wash amla well in fresh water. Boil again in fresh water for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Drain and wash again. Remove seeds from amla
  6. Heat oil in a wok. When oil is smoky hot, switch off the flame. Cool oil for 5 minutes.
  7. Now add gooseberry wedges and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Add ground spice powder and mix well. Cook for a minute.
  9. Fill amla mix in a glass jar and cover. Let it mature for 1-2 days, Serve. It can be refrigerated for 1 week
