ABOUT Spinach Buns Eggless RECIPE

Bun is a small, sometime sweet bread or roll. It is prepared in variety of shapes and sizes. Pav is one of the famous breads of India. It is served with Vads, Bhajiya, Samosas which is popular street food in India.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Maida / Flour – 1 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp for flouring work surface
  2. Blanched Spinach puree – 1/2 cup
  3. Curd – 2tbsp
  4. Warm Milk – 2-3tbsp + 1tbsp for brushing
  5. Dry yeast – 1.5 tsp
  6. Sugar – 1/8 tsp
  7. Salt as per taste
  8. White sesame seeds – 1tbsp
  9. Butter – 1/2 tbsp. + 2tbsp for greasing, brushing

Instructions

  1. Dissolve sugar in a warm milk, add dry yeast. Keep aside for 5 minutes.
  2. Sieve flour, add salt and keep it aside
  3. In another bowl , add curd and whisk well. Add milk, yeast mixture, butter and Spinach puree. Whisk Well.
  4. Add wet ingredients to flour. Knead it into a soft dough. It will take 8-9 minutes. Dough would be little sticky.
  5. Grease with little oil, Cover with plastic wrap and keep aside for 1.5 hours at warm place. Allow dough to expand.
  6. Lightly flour the work surface. Take dough out and gently punch it and knead again
  7. Divide dough into 5-6 equal parts and roll into smooth balls. Arrange them in a greased tray.
  8. Sprinkle some sesame seeds on top. Gently press seeds on the balls
  9. Cover with plastic wrap or wet cloth and keep at warm place for another 45 minutes to 1 hour. It should double in size.
  10. Brush, it with butter and milk.
  11. Preheat oven at 180-degree C. Bake buns for 12-13 minutes (If top is dry apply some butter after 10 minutes.) Increase temperature to 200-degree for last 3-4 minutes or until top turns golden brown.
  12. Apply Melted butter on top, cover and keep aside for few minutes. Serve with Bhaji/ vada or cup of hot tea.
