ABOUT Masala bhindi (spicy okra) RECIPE

A delicious and spicy curry made with ladies fingers or okras to be served with some roti or naans.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 250 grams okra ( lady finger)
  2. 1/2tsp Cumin seeds
  3. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  4. 1 medium size onion - chopped
  5. 2 medium size tomatoes chopped
  6. 1/2 tsp Ginger-garlic paste
  7. 2TBSP GRAM FLOUR
  8. 1 tsp coriander powder
  9. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  10. 1/2tso red chili powder
  11. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  12. 1/2 tsp amchur powder
  13. salt as per taste
  14. 3 tbsp oil (2tbsp oil for friying okra )

Instructions

  1. rinse well okra in water & strain , wipe with a kitchen towel remove the base and stalk and chop them into 1 or 2 inch pieces.
  2. heat 2 tbsp oil in a kadai , add the bhindi and saute till they are half done ,take out from pan and keep aside
  3. Heat 1 tbsp oil to the same pan and add 1/2 tbsp mustard seeds
  4. Add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds and let them crackle.
  5. Add 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste and saute for 2-3 minutes
  6. add the chopped onions and saute till onion gets soft now ,add tomatoes and again saute for 2 minutes till tomatoes get soft ,now add all dry spices one by one
  7. stir well and saute for a minute.
  8. If the mixture becomes too dry add some water and continue to cook.
  9. Now add 1cup water into fried massala and allow to boil
  10. add the sauteed bhindi
  11. Mix well , so that masala coats the bhindi well.
  12. Cook for 4-5minutes on low flame with lid now add handful chopped coriander leaves ... and its ready to be served.
