ABOUT Milk cake(Kalakand) RECIPE

This milk cake is a classic Indian mithai. It is also called 'Alwar ka mawa'.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Milk 1 litre
  2. Sugar 1/2 cup
  3. Ghee 20 gm.
  4. Lemon juice 2 tsp
  5. Milk powder 4 tsp
  6. Chopped almonds 7-8

Instructions

  1. Firstly heat 1/2 litre milk and add lemon as soon as it starts boiling. The milk will start to split.
  2. Now drain the water and filter the split milk. Wash thoroughly. The paneer is ready.
  3. Now heat remaining 1/2 litre milk in a heavy bottom pan and when it starts boiling add sugar, and after some time add milk powder.
  4. When it obtains a condensed consistency, add ghee little by little followed by the paneer.
  5. Cook until ghee is separated.
  6. Now pour the cooked milk in a greased tray and cover it with foil. Put it for 3-4hours ( you can put it in freeze also).
  7. Use Chopped almonds for garnishing. Cut the milk cake into slices and serve.

It was the simplest recipe ever! Thank you... I added some rose water at the end to give it a burst of flavour.
