ABOUT Onion Rosemary Foccacia RECIPE

Foccacia is a popular Italian bread which can be served as a side dish, used as a sandwich bread or a base for pizzas. The authentic bread is usually made of onions and rosemary combined with flour but it can also be made with other herbs.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 475 grams Flour
  2. 200 grams Sliced Onions
  3. Few sprigs Rosemary
  4. 1 1/2 teaspoon Fast action Yeast
  5. 1 teaspoon sugar
  6. 1 teaspoon salt
  7. 6 tablespoon Olive oil
  8. 275 mililitre Water

Instructions

  1. Take the flour, sugar and yeast in a large bowl.
  2. Add 3 tablespoons olive oil and gradually mix in enough water to make a soft dough.
  3. Knead the dough for 5 mintues on a lightly dusted flour surface until it is soft and elastic.
  4. Bind the dough into a round shape neatly and put it back in the bowl, cover with a wet cloth and leave it to rise for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  5. After an hour take the dough on a lightly dusted flour surface, knock it and knead it again.
  6. Cut the dough in two equal parts and make rough oval or elongated or round shapes.
  7. Transfer the loves to greased baking tray and make indentions on the bread with a wooden spoon.
  8. Sprinkle onions and rosemary all over your bread and leave it to rest for 20 more mintues uncovered.
  9. Drizzle 3 tablespoons olive oil and bake the bread at 200 degree centigrade for 15 to 20 mintues.
  10. Serve warm or cold cut into pieces.
