ABOUT Raw mango with Bengal Gram/ Ambe dal RECIPE

Ambe dal also known as kairi dal or vatali dal is a simple yet tasty maharashtrian preparation specially made as prasad for Chiatragauri or Ganpati. It is made in summer on arrival of raw mangoes.Healthy and almost no cook recipie except temprerin. It is traditionally served with kairi panha for haldikumkum or ladies get together. You can relish this as snack or as side dish/ salad/ chutney with meal. It can be a quick instant chutney in hurry if you have presoaked dal with you.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. One medium raw mango grated
  2. Bengal gram half cup
  3. Cumin Seed 1 teaspoon
  4. Green chilly one
  5. Ginger paste 1/2 teaspoon
  6. sugar 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  8. Salt to taste
  9. For tempering: asafoetida, curry leaves, dried red chilly, mustard seeds
  10. Oil 1 teaspoon
  11. Grated fresh coconut 1 tablespoon
  12. Coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Soak bengal gram in water for at least 4 hours
  2. Take grated raw mango
  3. Drain water from dal and put in grinder with raw mango
  4. Add cumin seeds, green chilly, sugar, ginger paste and turmeric powder
  5. Add salt to taste
  6. Coarsely gind the mixture and remove in a bowl
  7. Heat oil in a small skillet, add tempering of asafotida, mustard seeds, curry leaves andred chilly
  8. Pour this tempering over the bengal gram mixture
  9. Add grated fresh coconut and cut coriander leaves
  10. Mix well and serve
