ABOUT Dhokoidli RECIPE

This is a fusion dish between Gujrati Dhokla and South Indian Idli.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. For the white portion:
  2. Suji 1 cup
  3. Bread slice (cut all the edges) 1
  4. Curd 1/2cup
  5. Water as required for batter.
  6. Salt {as per the personal preference}
  7. Eno 1packet
  8. For middle layer :
  9. Chopped onion 1/2Cup
  10. Chopped bell peppers (yellow, red) 1/2cup
  11. Sweet Corn 1/4Cup
  12. Tomatoes chopped 1/4 th Cup
  13. Coriander chopped 1tbsp
  14. mustard seeds 1tsp
  15. Salt
  16. Garam masala 1tsp
  17. Degimirch powder 1 tsp
  18. sugar 1 tsp
  19. for the yellow portion:
  20. Gram flour 2Cup
  21. Curd 1cup
  22. Water as required for batter.
  23. Asfoetida {hing} 1Pinch
  24. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  25. Baking powder 1 tsp
  26. Salt
  27. Eno 1 packet

Instructions

  1. For white portion, Mix all ingredients to combine. add the packet of eno at the end.
  2. Heat oil in a wok add mustard seeds followed by the onion. shallow fry the onion add all vegetables one by one. Add salt and tomatoes in the last. Keep it aside.
  3. Mix all ingredients, leave eno for last to be mixed.
  4. Take a greased idli plate first put the yellow batter , then add the vegetable layer and cover it with the white batter. Keep it in a cooker or in a idli pot. Steam for 5 min.
  5. Take it out from the pot and serve.
  6. Pour tadka of mustard seeds, curry leaves ,whole red chillies on Dhokoidli. Enjoy with your evening tea or eat them as a part of the morning breakfast.
