ABOUT Spiced Buttermilk Popsicles RECIPE

Beat the heat in a Desi way with these masala chaas popsicles or spiced buttermilk popsicles. Chaas or buttermilk has many variants. You can have plain chaas, sweet chaas or salted chaas. But these spiced buttermilk popsicles are a break from the routine.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. ½ cup dahi/ curd
  2. ½ cup water
  3. ¼ teaspoon roasted cumin seeds/ jeera powder
  4. ½ green chilli, chopped
  5. 1 tablespoon coriander leaves, chopped
  6. 4-5 mint leaves/ pudina
  7. Small piece of ginger
  8. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a mixer/ blender jar, combine green chilli, mint leaves, coriander leaves, ginger and 1 tablespoon curd and blend to a smooth paste. You may also crush it coarsely if you like the bite or crunch of the leaves.
  2. Take dahi/ curd in a bowl and whisk well.
  3. Add jeera powder and salt to it and mix.
  4. Now add prepared coriander-chill paste and water and whisk well with the help of a beater till frothy.
  5. Pour the prepared mixture into moulds and refrigerate for 5-6 hours or till firm.
  6. Here we have used moulds with sticks attached to its covering.
  7. If you want to use wooden sticks, then pour the mixture into moulds or glasses or your desired vessel and freeze for 2 hours or till it becomes slightly firm. Then insert stick in the center and freeze till firm.
  8. To demould them, place them in running water or in a plate filled with water for 1-2 minutes.
  9. Enjoy these chilled spicy buttermilk popsicles.
